She was born in Pittsburgh, Pa. and graduated from the Conservatory of Dance at SUNY Purchase with a BFA in Dance and a minor in Arts Management. She moved to New York City where she continued her training on scholarship at the Alvin Ailey American Dance Center and danced with the Dance Theatre of Harlem and the Ohio Dance Theatre, among other companies. Gina has been teaching under their inspiration in NYC for the past 10 years. Following a back injury in 1999, Gina became a full-time Pilates instructor, opening her own studio in the Tribeca Sports Center, which led to the opening of Grasshopper Pilates Downtown in July, 2003. She has worked with a wide range of clients, teenagers to seniors, including assisting in rehabilation after physical therapy, pre and postnatal Pilates. Gina enjoys sharing her knowledge and inspiration of the pilates method with her clients at her New York studio as well as being a guest instructor at studios in Paris and Bermuda, and at destinations like Red Mountain Spa in Utah and the Standard Hotel in Miami. Gina was recently seen on The Late Show with David Letterman, segment entitled "Bob Borden Takes a Pilates Class", and featured in the Pilates Style Magazine, May/June 2006 issue, with her Mini Skirt Series Exercises . She has also appeared in Time Out New York, Pointe Magazine, Vogue and Self.
